📈 Why the Surge?
The latest spike, particularly the significant jump in Category A (up by over $9,100), is attributed to several factors:
Longer Interval: The three-week gap between the last two bidding exercises allowed demand to build up.
Year-End Rush: Dealers are scrambling to fulfil orders before a reduction in incentives for cleaner energy vehicles (Electric Vehicles and Hybrids) is expected to kick in from 2026.
Increased Demand: Strong bidding interest, possibly fueled by car roadshows, points to persistent demand for car ownership.
What This Means for Buyers
The escalating prices across the board mean that the cost of registering a new vehicle remains exceptionally high. While Cat E saw a slight dip, the price for a typical family car (Cat A) or a larger car (Cat B) has broken previous records.
Potential car buyers are advised to monitor the situation closely, as experts suggest the upward pressure on prices may continue until the end of the year, driven by the urgency to register cars before the incentive changes take effect.
